Wiki Websites

Derrymount School has been commissioned by Nottinghamshire Local Authority as centre of excellence to support parents and young people to develop their own personal private websites. These are provided to support the “All about me” aspect of Educational Health and Care Plans and are designed to be a support feature for Person Centred Planning. To find out more click here.

Wiki Websites can be built and accessed via Computers, Laptops, Tablet Devices and Mobile Telephones that have access to the internet. You can upload images, video, documents and text to create a personal profile that you control and own. You only allow access to those people who you want to see what is recorded on the Wiki and it is easily updated. It can provide a fantastic tool to showcase what skills young people have but also to enable other to gain a greater understating of their support needs.

Centres of Excellence are places that are able to offer support for you to create and update your Wikis. The staff are friendly and will assist you to up load information that you want to have on the site. They do not have access to your passwords or anything you put on the Wiki without your permission. You have full control over who you allow to see the information that is put on the Wiki. Support may be offered at the centre or staff may be able to come out to you and help with the set up of the site. They may even be able to offer some support with equipment loans and internet access if necessary.

Derrymount is just one of the Centres of Excellence that can offer support to those who wish to create their own Wiki.

If you and your child live in Nottinghamshire or if they attend a Nottinghamshire school you can sign up for a free Wiki Website. You can get support from any of our Centres of excellence which are based in across Nottinghamshire. For Gedling and Broxtowe your Centre of Excellence is at Derrymount school, but you could also get help from Ash Lea School which is for Rushcliffe or Newark Orchard School which is for Newark and Sherwood, APTCOO which serves Mansfield and Ashfield or St Giles which covers Bassetlaw.
